  • Soles for Souls
Great Lakes Energy, partnering with Emmet County Recycling, is a community drop off point for shoes to be distributed to the people of Haiti.

There will be a box in the back lobby as well as one in the front, public lobby, so anyone, member or not, can drop off footwear.

The shoes can be new or gently used; please use your discretion in determining if they still have good life left in them. This time of year, great deals can be found on sandals and flip flops that are left over from the summer at just about any store, so a little bit of money can go a long way to help these people. On February 4, they will be delivering the shoes to Emmet Recycling.

We are on a short time frame, as Emmet Recycling hopes to have a semi on the road February 5, 2010. We not only need shoes, but also help in getting the word out that they are a drop off point.
