If you have a closet full of gently used coats, your local Girl Scouts will find them a home for someone in need...Girl Scout troop # 362 is presently doing a coat drive ....looking for gently used, clean coats for citizens of Charlevoix County who may be in need. Coats will be distributed for free to families of need through "Tabitha's Closet" located at the Assembly of God Church in Charlevoix. Locations to drop off coats... Christmas Tree sale, Saturday, November 26 - Christmas at True Value Family Center.
Mitten Trees will be located in our three local banks, Charlevoix State Bank, Huntington Bank and Bay Winds Federal Credit Union. Trees will be going up on Monday, November 28 and will continue until December 14. Please don't feel limited to mittens only - hats, scarves, socks and slippers are also welcome. All items will be distributed by Care & Share.

Holiday Greens Workshop- Saturday, December 10th, 12pm- Come out to the Martha Wagbo Farm and Education Center for our monthly potluck program! The potluck begins at 12 pm with lunch in the Wagbo farmhouse. Bring a dish to pass if you can, but it's not mandatory. The program begins at 1 pm with Alana Haley of Roots & Wings Herbs teaching a Holiday Greens Workshop. Make a wreath or swag from fresh cut greens, berries, twigs and cones. Even if you've never made a wreath before, you'll be amazed at what you can create! If you plan to make a wreath, bring a grapevine wreath for the base. Free and open to the public. It's a FAMILY AFFAIR at Raven Hill Discovery Center this last second Saturday in 2011-December 10th from noon to 4 pm. Thanks to a grant awarded by the Petoskey Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, the Center has offered free admission for families and special science activities on the second Saturday of each month in 2011, ending this Saturday, December 10th. Bring the whole family "team" OR make it a special event for parent and child. There will be fun problem-solving demos & activities to fit various ages, abilities and interests.. Raven Hill Discovery Center is located between East Jordan & Boyne City, just off C-48 at Pearsall Road. December’s Back Porch Coffeehouse is fast approaching! Saturday, December 10th at 7 p.m., we will hold our popular “Carols in the Round”. We will be back at our new location- the Charlevoix Senior Center building. The evening will be filled with songs of the season- traditional, contemporary and songs from around the world, played on a variety of instruments. In the past, we have been treated to music from guitar, banjo, harp, fiddle, flute, recorder, harmonica, ukulele, bass and a variety of percussion instruments. Family-friendly, all are invited to come in from the cold to enjoy a warm evening- come to sing, come to share, come to listen and remember. No charge to attend (donations toward the Back Porch series are always appreciated). Refreshments are available at no charge. Contact: Pam Luce- 231-622-2944.
Directions to the Senior Center building: From US-31 (Bridge St.), turn west on Carpenter St. (between the Pizza Hut and Flap Jack Shack). Travel .7 mile, turn left into parking area, or turn left on Norwood Rd. to park in front of the Senior Center. The facility is fully accessible.

The Petoskey Madrigal Singers, under the directing of Julie Saunders, will perform in concert, December 14 at 7 pm at the Performing Art Center, East Jordan High School. Music lovers can get into the Christmas spirit. If you have not experienced the Madrigal Singer it is a concert not to be missed. It is a concert for all. The 30 singers, from Petoskey High School will be in costume and singing many Christmas favorites; such as "I Wonder as I Wander," "Carol of the Bells," "O Holy Night," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and many more. The singers are under the direction of the Petoskey High School Vocal Music Director, Julie Saunders.
The group is brought to the community by the East Jordan Downtown Development Authority, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Jordan River Arts Council who collaboratively sponsor East Jordan's hugely successful Music in the Park summer program. Admission is by donation only.
