Raven Hill Discovery Center is again ready for visitors. Current renovations continue, but the original hands-on room and animal room are both open for business as usual. Hours are 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and 2 pm to 4 pm on Sundays or by appointment. The official Grand Opening for the new Art Corridor and the Warren Loranger Great Room will be May 1, 2011 with more information to follow.
Hospice of Northwest Michigan is looking for a few good volunteers! If you have at least 2 hours per month that you would like to commit to Hospice, we could use your help! Training will be held at the Health Department in Charlevoix on Thursdays from 1-4 PM beginning January 13 and running through Feb 3. Hospice volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screen as well as attend the training sessions. AKtion Club & Bergmann Center sells Little Caesar's Pizza Kits AKtion Club and Bergmann Center have fun competing with their annual Little Caesar's Pizza Kit Fundraiser earning money for activities, trips and giving back to the community through volunteer work. It's great to be able to go to the freezer, pull out a Little Caesar's Pizza, toss it in the oven and enjoy! Potluck and Woodcock Walk: Friday, April 8th, 7pm- Visit the Martha Wagbo Farm and Education Center for our monthly potluck series. The potluck starts at 7pm. You are not required to bring a dish. The program begins at 8 pm with an evening viewing the spectacularly dramatic courtship display of the woodcock. Find out why they are nicknamed "the Little Brown Ghost" as we sneak through forest and field to experience our local harbingers of spring. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to encounter the wild animals that live in the Jordan RiverValley. Great for individuals, couples, and families! Free and open to the public. 2nd Annual Seder Meal. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 6:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph's Social hall. We will be celebrating our second annual Passover Seder. it is a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to come together to participate in an age-old ritual. We will be using the traditional prayers of Passover with some of the traditional foods that Christ would have eaten at the Last Supper. Wild Parsnip Diggin- Saturday, April 23rd, 3pm: Join the Martha Wagbo Farm and Education Center as we harvest wild parsnip from our fields. Few know that this invasive bane of habitat restorers is the exact same plant you buy in the store! Bring a shovel to harvest this delicious root vegetable and help preserve native wildflowers.
