Summer Feeding Program is open to any child 18 and under and will be held Monday - Friday at the East Jordan Elementary School cafeteria. Breakfast is served from 7:30-8:30 AM and Lunch is served 11:30 AM-12:30 PM.Children 18 and younger can eat for free during those times.

For the second straight year and the seventh month of 2011, it's a FAMILY AFFAIR at Raven Hill Discovery Center. Join us on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from noon to 4 pm for family fun indoors and out. Thanks to a grant awarded by the Petoskey Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, the Center will offer FREE ADMISSION and special science activities for families on the second Saturday of each month in 2011 through December 2011. Bring the whole family "team" OR make it a special event for parent and child. There will be fun problem-solving demos & activities to fit various ages, abilities and interests every month. Family groups can strengthen creative & critical thinking skills by trying different science challenges, plus enjoy the museum, animals and outdoor exhibits. The focus in July will be Force & Motion. Free Varicose Vein Screening - A free screening for those interesting in finding out more about venous disease will take place Thursday, July 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the new medical office complex on Charlevoix Area Hospital's campus. Hosted by Charlevoix surgeon Marc Lame MD, the event will give patients an opportunity to learn about risk factors, prevention, spider and varicose veins, and treatment options - including the new VNUS Closure procedure. Everyone is welcome to participate, and there is no charge or obligation. Those wishing to attend should make an appointment by calling Charlevoix Surgeons, (231) 547-2812.

"A 20th Birthday Celebration", sponsored in part by East Jordan Plastics and WCMU Public Radio, will take place on the grounds of Raven Hill on Friday, July 15, 2011. At 7 p.m. the festivities begin ($25 per person--reservations encouraged) in air-conditioned comfort. Guests are invited to explore indoor and outdoor exhibits and enjoy wine & hors d'oeuvres, demonstrations of Hot Glass beads, two silent auctions, and live music with Weaving the Wind.
Crossroads Ecumenical Resale Shop now has space for large quantities of furniture in good, serviceable condition. The need is great for couches, chairs, beds, dressers, tables, etc. Additional space recently made available to us for larger items will help to increase our sales, which in turn will benefit programs for those in need in our community. Hospice of Northwest Michigan is looking for a few good volunteers! If you have at least 2 hours per month that you would like to commit to Hospice, we could use your help! Training will be held at the Health Department in Charlevoix on Thursdays from 1-4 PM beginning January 13 and running through Feb 3. Hospice volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screen as well as attend the training sessions. Fiber Arts Festival at Castle Farms of Charlevoix! Saturday and Sunday, July 23-24, 2011, with more than 50 vendors displaying their wares.
