    Halloween Candy Buy Back at Beacon Dental Center
    Beacon Dental Center will send candy to troops abroad
    Calling all kids! You can earn $1.00 for every pound of wrapped Halloween candy you bring to Beacon Dental Center by Friday, November 8th. Beacon Dental Center will be sending the candy to our troops abroad through Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude sends care packages to U.S. Service Members abroad, to their children left behind and to Wounded Warriors recuperating in Transition Units. Grown-ups are welcome to donate bags of candy too. Adults can drop off wrapped candy by Friday, November 8th. Beacon Dental Center is located at 06483 M-66 Hwy North in Charlevoix.     Join us for our monthly potluck program! The event begins at 12pm with a potluck lunch in the Wagbo farmhouse. The program begins at 1pm.
    Homebrewer Keith Kintigh will provide an introduction to the art of making "hard" cider. Discussion will include history of cider making, the role of apple varieties, and the importance of yeast choice. And you can TASTE the difference while you're here!

    Our next Back Porch music event will feature DAVID BOWEN! This evening of music will take place on Saturday, November 9th at the Charlevoix Senior Center building, corner of Carpenter and Sheridan streets. This is a community event for all ages. The facility is accessible, donations at the door are all for the scheduled performer ($5 - $10/individual, $10 - $20/family). Soups, cookies and coffee available at no extra charge. The music begins at 7 p.m., and David and his guests will play until 8:30. Following David, musicians in attendance will gather for a circle jam session.     AN EVENING OF CELTIC and TRADITIONAL AMERICAN MUSIC WITH DAVID BOWEN and Special Guests Bruce Gartner and Andy Rogers David Bowen is a veteran multi-instrumental musician and balladeer. His singing and playing have been enjoyed at traditional concert, pub, and festival venues across the United States, Canada, and Ireland. His performances couple a great singing voice with an accomplished instrumental style- he is a two-time medal winner in the prestigious All-Ireland Music Championships. He was joined in these competitions by long-time music partner Bruce Gartner, whose superb mandolin playing is heard on Bowen’s recent CD, Fresh From The Past. Also joining him on his recording and at this concert will be skilled violinist/fiddler Andy Rogers, whose broad brush talents cover many playing styles, and who has performed with Bowen for over thirty years. The Back Porch Coffeehouse concert will include traditional ballads and tunes mostly Irish, but with Scottish and old-time American pieces included.
