  • FARMERS MARKET
The outdoor market runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Wednesday and Saturday, May through October. It will feature more than 60 regular producer vendors, all local and all serving the best that northern Lower Michigan has to offer including seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs; gourmet baked goods and preserves; eggs and cheese; honey and maple syrup; meat, poultry and fish, potted annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs, and cut flowers; plus a juried craft market with unique handmade items for your home or a special gift.

New this season is the creation of a “Friends of the Market” support group formed to support and help grow activities at the market. Volunteers are being recruited to help on market days and in planning special events. Lucy Hartlove is serving as chair of the newly formed group.

The Boyne City Farmers Market is a program of the Boyne City Main Street / Downtown Development Authority. It is governed by an 11-member committee consisting of vendors and community members. For more information visit the expanded farmers market website at www.boynecityfarmersmarket.com or contact market manager Rebecca Harris at 231-330-2704. • United Way begins Imagination Library project
  • Do you recall a special book you had as a young child? Do you have fond memories of mom, dad, or a grandparent reading to you on their lap or at bedtime? Did these experiences give you a life-long love of reading and the tools to succeed in school?

This isn’t the case for all children. Many grow up with few or no books in the home. To give young children the gift of reading, Char-Em United Way has launched Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.

  • Farmer’s Market moves downtown with sidewalk sales; Antique Auto Show / Flea Market will be held in Veterans Park
  • For one day only, the Boyne City Farmer’s Market will be held in downtown Boyne City on Saturday, Aug. 11. This opportunity will provide a great venue for market guests and downtown businesses. The market will be set up on Water and Lake streets, and will be just one of many events happening in Boyne City. In addition to the Farmers Market, there will be sidewalk sales from a number of downtown businesses, and the Antique Auto Show and Flea Market will be held in Veterans Park. “We knew when the Farmers Market was moved to Veterans Park from Old City Park there would be an occasional conflict with other events that have long been held there,” said Boyne City Main Street manager Hugh Conklin. “The Antique Auto Show and Flea Market is one of those events. It is a big and important event for the community and there is not enough room for it and the Market in Veterans Park.” The Farmer’s Market will open at 8 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. The market features more than 70 farm and craft vendors.
