  • SENIOR CENTER DINNERS
    Boyne Area Senior Center is hosting night meals instead of lunches on Wednesdays. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and serving continues until 6. Please join us for this endeavor and have dinner instead of lunch every Wednesday. Entertainment will also be provided each Wednesday.

  • UNITED WE READ
    As a part of the “United We Read” initiative, Char-Em United Way will be coordinating a Read Day of Action on June 21, placing volunteers at select sites throughout Charlevoix and Emmet counties to read to children and promote literacy.

  • Farmers Market
    On Wednesday July 3, the Boyne City Farmers Market is moving to Peninsula Park for one day only. This coming Wednesday, during the Fourth of July festivities, you'll be able to find us near the Harborage Marina. Plenty of parking is available. The market will be at Veterans Park as usual on Saturdays, July 29 and July 6.

  • July 4th
    Organizers of the Boyne City 4th of July Celebration say it's time to register for the parade and running races. The celebration features a giant parade at 10 a.m., evening fireworks plus a dozen other activities including the Annual Waterside Arts and Crafts Show, 2-mile and 10k running races, a wacky raft race and duck race in the Boyne River, Pinewood Derby for kids, lots of food, and children's games. The festival is centered in Veterans Memorial Park on the shore of beautiful Lake Charlevoix. There will be live music including Horton Creek playing at 1 p.m. in the park all day.   • Boyne Thunder
    Speed, excitement and smiles return to northern Michigan for the 10th annual Boyne Thunder Poker Run on July 12 and 13, in Boyne City. This unique boating event is a fund-raiser for Camp Quality and showcases high performance boats roaring through the waters of Lake Charlevoix, starting at 9:30 a.m., and proceeding to Lake Michigan on a 90-mile excursion. Card stops during the journey on Lake Michigan include Northport, Elk Rapids, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor, with a lunch stop in downtown Charlevoix. Boaters wrap up their day on the water with a final card stop near Horton Bay and a gathering at Sommerset Pointe, The day concludes with a dinner at Veterans Park where participants play their cards to see who has the best hand. The Poker Run, which starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Boyne City Marina, is the highlight of the weekend but the event offers so much more. From the moment the boats arrive to the time they depart Sunday there are activities galore in Boyne City. Events begin Friday with a dinner for the boaters at the Veterans Park Pavilion. That same evening, downtown Boyne City comes alive for an expanded Stroll the Streets Friday evening. Incredible displays of Boyne Thunder boats and classic cars, stereo contest, combined with music on every street corner will make for a glorious evening in beautiful downtown Boyne City until 9 p.m. Also on Friday evening, a benefit auction for Camp Quality will take place with items on display starting at 6 p.m. and the auction beginning at 8 p.m.

  • AVIATION OPEN HOUSE
    On Saturday of Boyne Thunder Weekend, while the boats are miles away on their Poker Run, the Boyne City Municipal Airport will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Young Eagles Plane Rides will be provided for kids from ages 8 to 17, there will be airplane displays, handouts, and radio-controlled airplanes. Fly-in airplanes are welcome, and admission is free. The open house is sponsored by the Boyne City Airport Advisory Board.
