The Petoskey News-Review announced plans for a special section that will debut March 25 featuring news from Boyne City and East Jordan. The local news section will initially be printed every other Wednesday with hopes to increase it to weekly frequency. The plans were announced at a meeting organized by the Boyne Area Chamber and Boyne City Main Street Program as a follow-up to a previous meeting about how to fill the void created by losing the community's local newspaper. The new special section will be devoted largely to news and photos submitted by readers and local organizations. Items can be submitted by email to news editor Jeremy McBain at jmcbain@petoskeynews.com or via mail to Petoskey News-Review, 319 State St., Petoskey MI 49770. Come on down to Old City Park to reconnect with your favorite local vendors - and meet new ones. The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon every Wednesday and Saturday, May through October. The Boyne City Farmer's Market boasts more than 50 regular producer vendors, all local and all serving the best that northern Lower Michigan has to offer including seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs, gourmet baked goodies and preserves, eggs and cheese, honey and Maple syrup, meat, poultry and fish, potted annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs, and cut flowers; plus a juried craft market with unique hand-made items for your home or a special gift. Local artisans offer everything from colorful wooden toys to indulgent body care products, from one-of-a-kind fabric bowls to cement landscape statuary.
