E. A. Ward has the lumber on the ground for a new house, which he expects to put up next summer.

To the Republican Electors of Evangeline Township

Notice is herby given that there will be held a Republican Township Caucus of Evangeline township in the village hall in Boyne City, Michigan, on the 14th day of February, A. D. 1903, at 8 o'clock p. m. standard time, for the purpose of electing nine delegates to the Republican County Convention, to be held at Charlevoix on the 17th day of February, 1903, and for the transaction of such other business as may come before the meeting.

Mrs. Wm. Wise is improving slowly after her long illness.

Miss Florence Jones spent last week with friends in Boyne.

W. H. Murner and daughter, Ruth, were in Mackinaw the first of the week.

Williams Bros. have left the employ of Cobbs & Mitchell, the cooperage being closed down until new management is inaugurated.

Owing to the severe weather the intended sleighride party to Boyne last Wednesday night, on the occasion or the band party, was abandoned.

Supervisor F. L. Stewart attempts in the local paper to vindicate his action concerning the smallpox bills. "He who runs may read" the loyalty and patriotism therein expressed. Would that we has many such to succeed him. (?)

Mrs. J. Bretts' health has been very poor of late.

Mr. Hines, an old soldier, died at Camp 27, Friday night and was buried here on Sunday.

Robert Reagan and Miss Flossie Nicols were married on Feb. 1, at the home of Mrs. and Mrs. Reagan.

Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Dunton, from the Soo, brought the body of their six month's old baby boy here to bury by the side of another child, Saturday. They will remain for about a week.

Rev. J. Bretts wiil preach at the M. E. church Sunday morning, instead of evening, on account of his revival meetings at Boyne Falls. His subject will be, "How the young men whipped the giants."

Mrs. Emma Lord's Sunday school class of young married people, to the number of thirty, called upon her Saturday evening. She was not expecting callers, so was somewhat taken by surprise. Every one went expecting a good time, and every one had it.
