    Want to learn how to grow your own gourmet mushrooms? Char-Em ISD AmeriCorps volunteer Yvonne Stephens and her husband Jason have successfully grown shiitake mushrooms and want to share what they know. They will be demonstrating how to inoculate logs with shiitake sawdust spawn. They will also have information available about where to purchase supplies. This event is offered free at the Martha Wagbo Farm and Education Center on M66 in East Jordan and starts at 6 PM on Friday June 5th. To register, please call 536-0333.

    Charlevoix County Recycling will be accepting plant plastic for collection. They will take most plant containers. All items must be rinsed free of excess soil and should be stacked together. June 6 from 9am -12Noon in Boyne City at the Boyne Avenue Greenhouse, Charlevoix at the K-Mart and in East Jordan at the Transfer Station at the end of Nichols Street. Plastic collected will be recycled and used by East Jordan Plastics, Inc.For more information contact Shirley Roloff at 547-6169.
